Did you know that National Adoption Month started in 1976? Massachusetts Governor Mike Dukakis announced the first Adoption Week. This idea grew quickly and spread across the nation. In 1984, President Ronald Reagan declared the first National Adoption Week. Then in 1995, President Bill Clinton expanded the week to an entire month.
